The Embassy of India, Bamako celebrated International Women's Day 2025 with great fervour and enthusiasm. A series of activities aimed at promoting women's empowerment and well-being were organized.
The celebrations commenced on 6th March with the Bamako Indian Women's Association hosting a vibrant gathering. Ambassador-designate, Dr. N. Nandakumar encouraged the members to actively contribute to the women led development of the country.
On the morning of 8th March, a special Yoga session focusing on the physical health and mental wellbeing of women was organized by the Embassy at the Chancery premises. Ambassador-designate, Dr. N. Nandakumar and Mr. Boubacar Niane, Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Mali, addressed the participants, stressing the role of physical and mental well-being in empowering women.
On the evening of 8th March, Embassy organized a panel discussion on ‘Accelerating the Empowerment of Women & Girls’, Ambassador-designate, Dr. N. Nandakumar highlighted India's initiatives for women-led development. Mr. Sidi Mohamed Coulibaly, Representative of the Minister for the Promotion of Women, Children and the Family and Technical Advisor of the Ministry and Mr. Mohamed ag Albacher, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Communication participated in the programme. Discussions also covered key themes such as legal rights for women in Mali, improving access to information, strengthening education, and facilitating financial access for rural women through self-help groups (SHGs).
The celebration was covered by several prominent print and digital news agencies including NCP News, L'Republican, Le Point, and CLASSE AFFAIRES Magazine.
